About This Course

Students develop mathematical thinking by connecting concepts across strands: numbers, algebra, data, geometry, measurement and financial literacy; they explore relationships through coding and real-world applications.

Learning Outcomes

Research the development and use of numbers, describe how number systems are structured and different subsets relate to each other, and use patterns to explain concepts such as density, infinity and limits.

Represent numbers, evaluate powers and simplify expressions by applying relationships between powers and exponents.

Apply understanding of rational numbers, ratios, rates, percentages and proportions to solve problems and explain how positive and negative signs affect these values.

Research the development of algebraic concepts; create, compare and simplify algebraic expressions; and create and solve equations to model situations.

Use coding skills to represent variables, parameters, equations and inequalities; break problems into computational steps; and read and modify code to model mathematical situations.

Compare and represent linear and non‑linear relations using tables, graphs and equations; analyse their rates of change; graph relations defined by various equations and inequalities; transform lines; and determine equations from graphical or tabular information.
